How do you ensure safety?

We conduct risk assessments, follow strict safety protocols, and maintain strong supervision ratios. We usually have four adults per 10 students.

Do students get a certificate?

Yes, they receive a certificate upon completion. Because of the nature of our programs, the certificate MUST be used at their first interviews for jobs, internships, practicums, and College and university applications. This is something no other ESL offers.

What is the age range of participants?

13 to 17 years old

How long is the program?

Two weeks in Vancouver and 38 hours of online learning

What are the English level requirements?

We accept students from A2+ (European Framework). But a B1+ is ideal.

Where do students stay?

At our host hotel in downtown Vancouver (Sandman Hotel by the BC Stadium), in a triple occupancy room with a private bathroom.

Are your instructors certified?

Yes, they are qualified experts in their fields, with industry and educational experience.

Are the workshops hands-on?

Yes. We focus on project-based learning and real-world problem solving.

Is there 24/7 supervision?

Yes. Most of our staff and coordinators live on-site during the program, and up to 10 minutes away by car.

What is a Hackathon?

A hackathon is a design sprint event in which a large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming (or not) over a relatively short period of time, such as 24-48 hours. The main goal is to build new web and mobile services but also people get together to solve a problem in a community, in a country, etc.

How do we assess the TEAM?

Idea: The purpose of the main idea is communicated clearly. Solution: Does the solution presented solve the main challenge? Other: Overall prep and delivery. Time used effectively. Keywords. Prototype Design. Questions answered. Team Introduction. Ask: TEAM must present a clear ASK.

What is the academic structure?

Theme: Our academic events center around technology, digital skills, entrepreneurship, leadership, soft skills, sports and wellness.

Competition Theme: Our HACKATHON theme remains a mystery until the day of the competition.

The Urban Camp aims to prepare future digital leaders for the real world. We aim to make participants think, use their imagination to solve problems, test, deal with frustration and stay resilient. Part of their personal growth is stepping out of their comfort zone, discovering their superpowers (strengths), and making peace with their kryptonite (flaws).

At the end of the program, participants will feel inspired, motivated, and have a sense of accomplishment. All communication skills, new ways of thinking and seeing life are just part of the process. They will practice and develop these skills while "doing," which means participants get to challenge themselves and their full potential at the same time they practice their English language skills for a digital and entrepreneurial world!

What is going to achieve my school?

Think beyond your city or region. The Urban Camp puts your school on an international level. These skills your students will learn are taught only in HUB cities, major universities, and colleges.

Are my students going to meet new people? From other countries?

We are working hard to keep the summit exclusive and global. However, many factors can affect other participants' attendance (e.g., visas, economic reasons, etc.). Fair competition is healthy, but collaborations take people and companies to the next level. Relationships are the new true currency, and even though a multi-country event might not be possible at the moment, participants will definitely make connections for life.
